Why the base decides the price
Ask three installers what a resin driveway costs and you will get three different answers, because they are quietly answering three different questions. The surfacing itself is the predictable part. What varies is everything underneath it.
If your existing tarmac or concrete is sound, level and draining properly, resin can often be laid straight over the top after cleaning, repair and priming. That is a very different job from excavating the whole driveway, carting the spoil away and building a new compacted base before any resin appears.
Nobody can tell which of those you need from a photograph. So rather than publish a rate that only applies to one of them, we come out, assess what is actually there, and give you a written fixed price. It costs nothing and you are under no obligation.
What moves the figure
Condition of the existing surface
The single biggest variable. A sound slab means an overlay; a failing one means excavation, spoil removal and a new base.
Size and layout of the driveway
Larger open areas are more efficient to lay. Narrow strips, tight returns and awkward shapes take proportionally longer to complete.
Aggregate choice
Standard blends, marble, granite and specialist decorative mixes all differ in material cost and availability.
Laid depth
Vehicle-trafficked resin needs greater depth than a footpath. Reducing depth to save money is a false economy that shows up as cracking.
Edgings and restraints
Resin needs a firm edge to hold against. Block, kerb or aluminium restraint stops the perimeter breaking away over time.
Drainage and access
Resin bound is permeable, but a driveway falling toward the house may still need a channel drain. Restricted access means smaller batches and a longer day.
Two things to ask any installer
Laid depth. Vehicle-trafficked resin needs more depth than a footpath. Get it in writing.
Resin-to-aggregate ratio. Under-resined surfaces shed stone within a couple of years. Both are invisible once cured.

What you are paying for
Most of the work on a resin driveway happens before the resin arrives. This is where the difference between quotes usually sits.
1. Survey and specification
We check the existing surface, drainage and levels, then confirm whether we are overlaying or rebuilding. You get the specification, including laid depth and resin ratio, in writing.
2. Base preparation
Either we excavate and lay a compacted permeable base, or we repair and prime a sound existing surface. Edgings and any drainage channels go in at this stage.
3. Mixing and laying
Aggregate and resin are forced-action mixed on site in controlled batches, then trowelled out to an even depth while workable. This step is weather-dependent and we plan around it.
4. Curing and handover
The surface is left to cure, edges are cleaned up and we walk you through aftercare and the timings for foot and vehicle traffic.
